COTA Visitors

Make a difference in someone's life

The Community Visitors Scheme is an Australian Government initiative that provides friendly volunteers for older people who are at risk of loneliness or social isolation. Community Visitors befriend and visit someone with limited companionship on a regular basis, to establish and maintain an ongoing friendship.

If you would like to become a Community Visitor and make a difference in someone's life by extending your hand of friendship, we would love to hear from you.

We are particularly seeking volunteers in the Eastern suburbs to visit residents at Regis Burnside on Booth Avenue at Linden Park. As well as English-speaking people, we are also seeking volunteers who speak Italian, Greek or French. You might have a common interest with one of the residents including fashion, pets, gardening or sports, and we are particularly seeking a chess player to visit on a Wednesday afternoon. An Italian-speaking woman is also sought to share coffee and Italian foods and activities with a group of Italian residents. See our latest poster for details here.

Volunteer visitors are matched to older people with similar backgrounds and shared interests, and are supported by COTA SA - even if you don't fit the criteria above we'd love to hear from you as we receive new requests for visitors regularly.

We are seeking volunteers in the Adelaide metropolitan area, the Mid North and the Hills, Mallee and Southern (Fleurieu Peninsula and Coorong) areas.

If you are interested in being a Community Visitor and to find out about the next information session, please contact us at COTA SA to find out more on 08 8232 0422 .
