COTA Visitors — Make a difference in someone's life

COTA Visitors are volunteers who visit someone with limited companionship on a regular basis, to establish and maintain an ongoing friendship. Loneliness affects 20% of South Australians aged 75 and over and they can feel especially marginalised and out-of-touch in our modern online and busy world.

COTA Visitors is part of the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme — an Australian Government initiative that provides friendly volunteers for older people who are at risk of loneliness or social isolation.

Location

We recruit and support volunteer visitors in the Adelaide metropolitan area, the Hills, Mallee and Southern (Fleurieu Peninsula) areas.

We are currently seeking volunteers to visit people waiting for a new friend across the metropolitan area and Fleurieu region.

Language

As well as English-speaking people, we are also seeking volunteers who speak Italian, Greek, Polish and Hungarian.

Common interests

You might have a common interest with one of the residents such as fashion, pets, gardening or sports.

Volunteer visitors are matched to older people with similar backgrounds and shared interests, and are supported by COTA SA — even if you don't fit the criteria above we'd love to hear from you as we receive new requests for visitors regularly.
