In recent years, COTA SA has been advocating for the State Government to fund free ambulance services for people on the full Age Pension in South Australia.
SA is out of step with the rest of the country in making paramedic services affordable and accessible for older and vulnerable people. South Australia’s emergency ambulance call-out fee is one of the highest in Australia and one of the last states to provide free ambulance services to groups of older people. Our ongoing engagement with older South Australians has indicated that cost is a barrier for many in using this important health service. To help us continue this important advocacy work, we want to hear from you – have you experienced challenges paying an ambulance bill? Your story will help us convey the lived experience of older South Australians.
