There are hundreds of aged care providers in South Australia, and it can be overwhelming to choose your provider. We advise all older people to make their own informed choices about aged care providers, just like you do for your telephone service, electricity, and everyday purchases.
Some Support at Home providers advertise on TV, some might cold-call you to offer services and some might offer bonuses like gift cards or cash back. Selecting a provider is your choice. It’s important to find out if a provider is going to suit your needs by talking with and comparing with other providers.
If you are tech-savvy you can use My Aged Care’s tools to compare providers and there are fact sheets and checklists that can help you compare on the My Aged Care website, scroll to “Factsheet – Researching Support at Home providers”.
If you're not online, you can ask My Aged Care for advice on 1800 200422 or call COTA SA on 08 8232 0422 and our friendly volunteers may be able to look some providers up on the My Aged Care website for you to contact.
Our Care Finders program is available for eligible vulnerable older people in the Adelaide region, to assist with navigating the system and finding a provider.
