Each year COTA SA connects with older people across South Australia to hear their voices and experiences across a diversity of age, cultural background, location, income, health, ability and relationship status. Our engagement helps COTA SA to better understand the diverse experiences of older people and we use these insights to inform our policy priorities, advocacy and programs. Listening Posts 2021

In August and September 2021, we hosted a series of listening posts to learn from older South Australians what works well as they age and what doesn’t. We spoke to 243 older people across South Australia who represented a broad cross-section of voices and experiences. The generosity of people taking time to talk about their lives helped us to better understand who older South Australians are, and the things that contribute to positive experiences of ageing.

Our 2021 Listening Posts report shares what we learnt from our conversations, and recommends practical measures or commitments that would support older people across South Australia to stay in their communities as they age, remain connected to family, friends and services, and receive the care they need to be healthy and well.

Country Listening Posts 2019

We established our first conversations, our Country Listening Posts, in 2019 to reach out and connect with older people in our regions and to better understand the unique set of challenges that ageing in the country presents to many older South Australians. The insights from our conversations are detailed in the Ageing in Country South Australia report.
