The Strength for Life community continues to grow, reaching more people and making a difference to the lives of thousands of older South Australians. Read the latest news, information, community updates and how Strength for Life continues going from strength to strength!

Intercultural group at Grenville Hub

A very warm welcome to our new intercultural group at Grenville Hub. The first session was a great success, this wonderful group included a number of attendees from the Hispanic Women’s Association.

With special thanks to Sian Bischopp (Genville Hub) Patricia Rios (Hispanic Women’s Association) and Strength for Life fitness instructor Diane Marshall who made it happen.

New CALD groups around Adelaide!

It has been fabulous to witness new CALD Strength for Life spring into life in various locations around Adelaide! Here are some new and upcoming groups:

  • Intercultural group (women only) at Morella Community Centre
  • Intercultural group at Grenville Hub
  • Intercultural group at Clayton Wesley Uniting in collaboration with Malex Care
  • Uyghur community at Wandana Community Centre in collaboration with SSTARS
  • Bhutanese community at Salisbury Primary School in collaboration with STTARS (pictured)

Farewell Mel!

It is with great sadness that we say farewell to a fabulous Melissa Bridge who has been very involved with COTA SA’s Strength for Life; in particular in delivering Strength for Life to a variety of CALD and new and emerging community groups across Adelaide.

Mel, thank you for your amazing determination, commitment and support over the past couple of years and for bringing joy to so many people from around the globe as they experience first had the huge benefits of physical activity and strength-based training!

92 and still going strong

Happy Birthday, Brian, 92 and still going strong!

Strength for Life is for everyone; recently The Lights Community and Sports Centre wished attendee Brian a very happy birthday. Brian has been an active member of the Strength for Life program at The Lights for 3 years now and has gone from strength to strength!

The Uyghur community embraces Strength for Life

A warm welcome to Strength for Life to the Uyghur Community who have started Strength for Life sessions at Wandana Community Centre!

Many thanks to Mehak and Carolina (STTARS), Carmen (Wandana Community Centre) and Halimah and Ramila (Australian Uyghur Tangritagh Women’s Association) for their generous support and assistance in enabling this group to get started. And a big thank you to our Strength for Life instructor Dita!
