Seeking new policy council members

COTA SA Seeks New Policy Council Members

COTA SA is seeking nominations for new members to join its Policy Council.

COTA SA is an older people's movement run by, for and with older people. Our purpose is -

  • To lead the South Australian community to reshape, reframe and reimagine modern ageing
  • To provide opportunities for older people to be influential and involved in our South Australian community.

The Policy Council is looking for new members with expertise, networks and/or lived experience of value to older people. COTA SA reflects the diversity of older South Australians and we would be particularly interested in hearing from people from diverse backgrounds and with diverse networks - culturally and linguistically diverse, LGBTIQ, rural, and/or Aboriginal.

We are looking for new members who are passionate about the possibilities of our ageing, and who can offer experience and skills in areas of life including housing, digital access, education, contribution, volunteering and leadership.

The Policy Council is a subcommittee of the COTA SA Board. It meets every two months to provide expertise and advice on issues of importance to older people. This advice informs COTA SA policy development as well as influencing the national agenda.

Policy Council roles are unpaid, and COTA SA is generally not in a position to reimburse costs associated with the meetings.

Applications close Friday, 30 September 2016. Following a selection process, successful applicants will commence at the first Policy Council meeting of 2017.

For further information and to lodge an application, please contact Nicola Thurston, Policy Coordinator, on nthurston@cotasa.org.au or 08 8232 0422.
